Pompitous

Note: please pardon my spelling errors.  Ultra Power Saving Mode on my phone is not friendly to the spelling impaired.

There should be more words that have no meaning like the great Steve Miller Band pulled off with”The Joker”.  Pompitous! That is a great word.   I’m going to start randomly creating words and do my best to make sure there is no meaning to them.   I can already tell that will be really hard.  But, in respect to this great word,  I will be naming my next yarn colorway Pompitous.

Speaking of yarn,  I ordered 20 hanks of yarn to dye.  It’s not nearly enough,  but it will have to do.  Flying low on the financial radar so my husband does not figure me out! I also ordered some more dyes. My collection now is somewhat small.  It will take time,  but I’m sure I’ll get to the point that I’ll have a good variety.   I am really excited about having my own yarn line, but I’ll feel more legit once I make a sale.

Right now,  I’m on my lunch break.  Regretting not bringing some knitting with me. I am going to restart the Vanilla Fog hat by Andrea Mowry this weekend for the Actually Knitting Podcast KAL. I love that podcast.

I messed up Vanilla Fog 3 times last weekend because I went into the pattern with no idea how to brioche in the round.  I think I have it down now.  I’m really excited to try new techniques.  And the MCN yarn I’m using is by Artistic Lily.  Really pretty.

Is it 5:00pm yet? Back to work.

Why ‘Punk in Curls’?

Why am I calling myself ‘Punk in Curls’…..

I have no clue.  I just like the sound of it.  I will admit, I tried to be a punk in high school, but those days are long gone.  I’m basically a hermit now outside of work and the required visits to the grocery store.

No tattoos and no piercings, well, besides my ears.  BUT, I should not even claim my ears because I nearly passed out when I got them done (18 years old), and they’ve probably closed up by now.

I guess it is how I always observed myself.  Not ‘punk’ in the sense of I’m going to give you a knuckle sandwich, but more like the rocker look.  I like to wear black and listen to rock.  I once owned JNCO jeans and Vans.  Yes, I’m a 90’s girl.

The ‘Curls’ part is spot on though.  I do have curly hair.  So, the name is not entirely false.

Here I Go Again…

I’ve wiped this blog clean and starting over.  I’ve had several blogs,  under several names,  but none that suites me quite like Punk in Curls.

The meaning of this blog is to talk about my daily like while attempting to be an entrepreneur on the side.   I’ll discuss what’s going on in both worlds.

By day,  I’m an accountant.  I’ve been working as an accountant for over 11 years now.   Right now,  I work at a hospital as a Financial Analyst.  I enjoy my career choice,  but it’s what I do after 5pm that I’m passionate about.

By night,  I knit and dye yarn.   Needless to say,  I’m a crafty gal.  I own my own online yarn shop,  Happy Little Yarn. My shop carries a variety of yarn brands, knitting needles,  project bags,  and notions.   I opened it in July 2016, and it’s been a great adventure.

Now,  along with my shop,  I’m trying to sell my dyed yarns.   I just started an Etsy store this week and so far I’m having fun with the idea of selling my creations.  Emphasis on “the idea of selling.”  No such luck yet.   It seems there are indie dyers everywhere,  so the competition is pretty intense.  I’m going to try though.

So here I am,  again.   Yarn on my needles and in the dye pot after a day of crunching numbers.  I’m excited to talk about the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur, and discussing new idea’s and whatever else comes to mind.
